garlic feed component supplied to the diet was increased
over time, starting with 1% (w/w) at day 4 prior to the
experimental infection, followed by 2.5% (w/w) on the next
day. From day 2 prior to infection until the end of the
experiment, the pigs received the final amount of 5% (w/w)
garlic feed component, amounting to 9–16 g per pig
