How to encourage students interest in English language.
English language began the role to have more and more everyday. So we can speak English. It gives an advantage to others people. Today, we have elementary method to practice about English language. It is not hard for people have to practice. A lot of Thai students especially English admirers, would like to know "how to be good at English". The best way to excel of English is to try to enrich your word power. "The more vocabularies you gain, the better English learner you are,"It also pointsout that it is necessary to raise students’ awareness toward English that Englishis not only used by native speakers but it is extensively used among second andforeign language speakers as communicative tools.
Firstly, English is the leading foreign language enjoying a prestigious position in many countries, yet the problem is that most are far from attaining the desired level of proficiency either in comprehensive or productive skills or in both. Despite being exposed to English instruction for a long time at different levels, the reasons for the poor foreign language skills of students have long been a matter of discussion among educators.Although a huge amount of time and effort are spent, learners either cannot go beyond the basics or they experience difficulty in developing their level of proficiency unless they are individually motivated
Secondly, The enjoyment of learning there seems to be a common factor in that to be motivated, the students mustenjoy learning the English language. Intrinsically motivated students more likely to continue their studies than extrinsically motivated students and simply partake inan activity for the pure pleasure of learning the language. Similarly, interactively motivated students enjoy learning the language and culture of that society. There must be some sort of enjoyment while learning in order to be motivated to continuestudying the English language.
Thirdly, Get your students to write down what they learned, whether they enjoyed a particular learning experience, what helped their learning, what hindered their learning and what might help them next time. Use a Thinking Routine like ‘Connect, extend, challenge’. Take notice of what they write and build learning experiences based on it. Therefore record student thinking and track development over time. Provide opportunities for applying learning in a variety of ways. Create meaningful assessment tasks that allow transfer of learning to other contexts. Have students publish expressions of their learning on the internet for an authentic audience. Place as much value on process and progress as on the final product.
I think students get bored because they need change. Sometimes teachers teach the same way, every day and this gets way too monotonous. I think it is important for teachers to vary instruction by using group work, individual work, computer time, educational games, etc. When all of these things are utilized students will not get bored. They will expect something new everyday.
