Conclusion
This work demonstrates that E. coli GALG20, a pgi-gene knock-out, is able to produce larger amounts of pDNA in bench-scalebioreactors when compared with the MG1655endArecA andDH5 reference strains. In shake flasks, MG1655endArecAand DH5 were poor pDNA producers (8.8 mg/L and 8.2 mg/L,respectively), while in batch fermentation the same strains pro-duced high amounts of pDNA (94.9 mg/L and 72.2 mg/L, forMG1655endArecA and DH5, respectively). In contrast, GALG20produced high amounts of pDNA at both scales (∼90 mg/L).In fed-batch mode at bench-scale, GALG20 produced 3-fold
