producing folate would allow the production of foods with elevated
concentrations of folates that are less likely to cause undesirable
side effects such as masking vitamin B12 deficiencies or the deac-
tivation of certain liver enzymes (Laino, Juarez del Valle, Savoy de ~
Giori, & LeBlanc, 2014; Laino, Leblanc, ~ & Savoy de Giori, 2012).
