Chung and Strom (1991), studied ten New Jersey plants
to identify the ®lamentous bacteria, and reported that
Beggiatoa was present when the organic loading was high,
and S. natans was present in the later stages. They also
observed the Eikelboom's types 021N, and 1701 in one of
ten plants studied, and in a low frequency.
