Have you ever tried catching an autumn leaf as it falls from the tree? It’s something I like to do each year. Imagine – a 65 year old man, a serious author, psychotherapist and coach, running around like a five-year-old trying to catch one elusive, capricious leaf as it sails unpredictably through the air, before it hits the ground. It’s wonderful. Being able to act and feel like the kid I really am is freeing and wonderful.
Leaving that image aside, the point is that with the millions of leaves falling in our neighbourhood alone, catching one is much harder than it sounds. You have to be alert, patient, ready and willing to look foolish. To tell the truth I haven’t caught one yet this fall; but I will. And when I do, that leaf will be the special one and will represent all the leaves that have grown, given us their life force and finally died this year.
The imagery of the one caught leaf among the millions is compelling. It symbolizes for me the individual who catches on that he or she can live a more fulfilling life among the millions who settle for what appears inevitable. I feel privileged to work every day with people seeking something greater in their lives, and to watch as they emerge from a sense of helplessness or frustration into becoming empowered and confident about themselves and their future.
My personal journey this year has brought about the publication of my latest book “Recipes for Inner Peace.” Take a look at the the Resources page www.efitinstitute.com after which I hope you’ll agree that it’s a perfect gift for all your friends and family, business and professional contacts.
