During the Audit
Facility management should be prepared to give auditors access to the entire area during the
facility walk through.
Auditors will, at a minimum, access:
1. All occupied or potentially occupied areas;
2. Building rooftop;
3. Crèche or childcare facility;
4. Stairs designated as emergency exit routes, from facility floor down to ground floor;
5. Emergency exit doors, which may require de-activation of fire alarm if they are
connected to fire alarm;
6. Fire alarm control panel;
7. Sprinkler system control panel;
8. Fire pumps;
9. Water suction tank, elevated water tank or reservoir; and
10. Area used for storage of hazardous, combustible or flammable materials.
During the audit, auditors will NOT engage in the following activities:
1. Auditors will not personally test any equipment. Facility management will be asked to
identify trained employees to test equipment and assess accordingly;
2. Auditors will not open emergency exit doors before notifying facility management.
Facility management must de-activate emergency fire alarm before auditor use of
emergency exit doors and re-activate door fire alarm after function check is
completed; and
3. Auditors will not collect any photo evidence that includes brand names in photos.
