P. emblica fruit extract showed maximum percent
recovery of GSH contents by 32%, 39%, 56%, 69%
and 85% (r2¤0.9; p⁄0.001; Table 1). The replenishment
of GSH level in the P. emblica treated rats may
be related to the antioxidant and free-radical scavenging
effects of extract of P. emblica. A considerable
protection against lead acetate induced oxidative stress
was also observed when treated with Cupressus sempervirens
seed extract and its flavonoids (quercetin
and rutin).
