• Define the client pool really clearly

• Define exactly who is going to be the coached

• Decide on a clear, simple training program
• Have a safe structure including information for the client
• Include personal goals
• Build coaching into people’s roles and rewards
• Allocate sufficient time and resources to learning to coach
• Have an internal sponsor to drive the logistics of the program
• Have a combination of HR and managers as coaches
• Build structured inductions for coaches and coachees
• Remove all roadblocks to doing the coaching
• Provide ongoing support and mentoring
