Nonetheless, in spite of these limitations, it is important to point out that positive sera used were from patients having a parasite loads lower than 100 eggs/g of feces, suggesting that CPIA might become extremely useful in areas of low to moderate transmission where most cases go unnoticed because asymptomatic and where very highly sensitive diagnostic methods are required to decide chemotherapy intervention against active cases; the method can also be useful to evaluate successful chemotherapy post-treatment, thus contributing to the control of this disease
