Well, a closed question is one that allows only two answers -- yes or no. For example, 'do you speak English' is a closed question because you can either say 'yes, I do' or 'no, I don't. So, if a question starts with a verb, it's a closed question. On the other hand, open questions start with question words. Here is an example: Why do you want to improve your English? An open question can be answered by an open answer. This means, it's really up to you how you answer it.
With all those questions I bet you will soon become an expert interviewer or journalist :-)
