Krueger and Carsrud (1993) were the first to apply the theory of planned behaviour to the field of entrepreneurship by adapting Ajzen’s model to make it compatible with other theoretical frameworks, notably Shapero and Sokol’s (1982). The final model they propose (see Figure 10.2) combines the two notions that we consider as the most relevant to explain the trigger of the process: ‘intention’ through the theory of planned behaviour, and the concept of ‘displacement’ derived from Shapero’s works.
