Description
Ascomata scattered, subepidermal, as black spots on surface view, sometimes appearing superficial by shedding off the epidermis, depressed globose, 240-320 μm wide, 180-230 μm high, rounded at base, wall surface composed of textura angularis. Peridium 12-16 μm thick at sides, composed of 3-4 layers of polygonal, brown, sclerotial cells, peridium thickened at around the ostiolar canal, 20-25 μm thick, composed of 5-7 layers of cells, the cells smaller than those of the lateral peridium, the whole peridium externally covered by a black crust. Asci narrowly clavate to elliptical, 70-90 x 8-10 μm, 8-spored, nearly sessile. Pseudoparaphyses branched, 2-3 μm wide. Ascospores broadly fusiform, 16-19 x 4-6 μm, rounded or slightly pointed at the end, 3-septate, first septum median, broadest at the second cell, yellowish-brown, smooth, overlapping biseriate to obliquely uniseriate in ascus.
