Satun has been a city of peace and serenity for Thais who respect Buddhism and Islam for more than 100 years. Mosques and Thai temples are located around the City of Satun. They are called Masjid Mambang and Wat Mambang respectively.
The name of Wat Mambang was changed into Wat Chanathip Chaloem in 1939. It is located on Sulakanukul Road and now stands out with its 2 statues of giants standing guard in front of the temple. It is the first Buddhist temple of the Satun City, built in 1882. The ordination hall was built in 1930 in a style different from other halls as it is a 2-storey building where its lower storey was built with bricks bound with cement, functioning as a sermon hall, while its top storey was built with wood, functioning as a place to conduct the rites of the monks.
