Study selection
Two independent reviewers (J.R. and E.L.) carried out an analysis of the articles found. In case of disagreement, data sharing was done in consensus of both reviewers
As a general rule, a pre-selection of the papers was done considering if they were within the proposed subject of the study.
A selection of full-text articles was established followed by reading their abstract. All the papers that did not meet the inclusion criteria before mentioned were excluded.
The full text of the studies that met the inclusion criteria were read and analyzed and included in this systematic review as appropriate.
The following data were extracted from the studies: study design, objective of the study, description of the intervention of the control group and the experimental groups, follow up period and outcome measures. These data were compiled in a standard table (Table 1). The two reviewers that selected the studies also extracted the data and assessed the methodological quality using the PEDro (Physiotherapy Evidence Database) scale.
