2. Product Positioning
In 1998, Yamaha released the “YZF-R1” into the European and North American markets as a model that offered “unsurpassed excitement” on winding roads. It set a new benchmark in the realm of sport bikes and earned widespread acclaim from enthusiasts. The next year, Yamaha expanded the lineup with the “YZF-R6” and the “YZF-R7” and solidified its leading position in the sport model market. Later, models in the R-Series would go through further maturation and become synonymous with “Yamaha sport bikes.” As attention and user admiration of the R-Series grew in countries around the world, Yamaha released the “YZF-R15,” a model that recreated the world of the R-Series in a smaller package, into markets like India, and followed up with the “YZF-R125” model for European markets.
The 05A is a model that takes the R-Series technology and know-how Yamaha has accumulated since the original YZF-R1 and brings the world of the “YZF” lineup to the 250cc displacement class. It inherits the high level of riding performance and styling DNA worthy of an R-Series model while also being easy to handle in daily use. This is a model that develops the full potential of a 250cc sport model for the global market.
