In a straightforward setup, only cross-docking is done,
where load units such as pallets are shifted from an incoming dock to an outgoing dock
and consolidated with other load units that have arrived from other warehouses or
distribution centers (DC1 and DC3). From the terminal (T1), a full truckload (FTL) or
LTL is shipped to one customer (C1) and possibly to some more customers, if the goods
designated to one customer did not fill the truck.
