Mitigation, Monitoring, and Reporting
Depending on the evaluation of health impacts, some may be found to be objectionable; therefore, mitigation measures may be needed. The mitigation process involves two tasks: (1) identifying the appropriate mitigation measure or measures, and (2) estimating the magnitude by which the health impact will be reduced. For most projects, mitigation measures to minimize undesirable health effects fall into one or more of three categories: (a) mitigation through control of sources; (b) mitigation through control of exposure; (c) mitigation through health service development.
