Society adores the Internet. A large portion of society has become addicted to the Internet, changing the way they go about their daily business. The Internet has brought people closer in many regards, yet it is driving them apart at the same time. The ironic aspect of the Internet is that in order to properly connect or reconnect with people, it is necessary to disconnect.

This marvelous invention has altered the landscape of current society, completely changing the way we think and act. Many aspects of our society are dependent upon the Internet, which in itself is a negative effect.
Negative effects of society are seen in many different areas of daily life, such as the sedentary lifestyle associated with the Internet, sleep deprivation, a corruption of morals, sexual predators, cyber bullying, theft of identity and possessions, invasion of privacy, addiction, instant gratification, and the way in which we communicate.
