Famous for its superbly sweet and delicious taste, the Amphawa Khom lychee season is here. If you are travelling along the main highway close to Amphawa, do lookout for the Khom lychee sellers. The fruit came to Thailand during the Rattanakosin era with Chinese traders and has successfully grown in the central province of Samut Songkhram province. The Khom lychee is much smaller than the ones in the north. The small fruit has reddish-brown rough skin with translucent white pulp.
