The final water content attained by seed in our work (approximately 50% moisture content), though similar to that of seeds of the tropical epiphytic orchid, Cattleya (Seat on and Hailed, 1989) and several epiphytic and terrestrial North American species (Yoder et al. 2010). is higher than the water contents of most studied orthodox agricultural species except those that mature within fleshy fruits, such as muskmelon (Welbaum and Bradford, 1989)or tomato(Berry and Bewley, 1991)
