From Fig. 3 it becomes clear that even for the extreme
case of the 40 inclination the dominant crack-propagation
mode is still in-plane shear (Mode II) as is the case for the
0. However, particularly for small crack lengths with high
inclination, the crack-propagation mode is mixed Mode I
and II. The KII SIF is observed to have the tendency to increase
at higher rates as the crack propagates, whereas
the KI SIF has a tendency to stabilize with increasing crack
length.
