Much of the history of Sukothai is based on "King Ramkhamhaeng's inscription" (or "Stone Inscription No. 1') although its authenticity is under dispute. Many Thai and international historians believe that this inscription has been an invention of Prince Mongkut (or King IV of matches perfectly into the ideas of the 19th century, not to the 13th. Also, the description of the medieval Kingdom of Sukothai in this inscription sounds like a like a serious depiction of the of Ayutthaya's history given in the archive made by Simon de la Loubere. Though, much of the national self-conception is built stone inscription. Proofing it wrong means shaking the foundations of Thai historical records.
