1. Create a piece-y texture. Apply TRESemmé Get Sleek Perfect Polish Blow-Dry Balmthrough damp hair from roots to ends by raking it through your strands using your fingertips. "This creates finger grooves in hair, giving it that perfect texture, and will keep you from applying too much product to your strands," says Pita.
2. Direct your hair back with a blow-dryer and a boar bristle brush. Holding a boar bristle brush in one hand and your hair dryer in the other, comb your hair from your hairline straight back as you aim the nozzle of the dryer in the same direction to smooth your strands. This also helps knock out any cowlicks and gets the hair going in the direction you want, which is back toward the nape of your neck.
3. Secure your hair into a pony, raking mousse through the tail, and twisting it tightly. Applying mousse to your ponytail gives your strands grip and makes it easier to create the knot shape that comes next. Try TRESemmé Youth Boost Youthful Fullness Flex-Bounce Mousse.
4. Continue to twist your hair until it starts to coil into a bun shape (if your hair is longer, you may need to wrap it around the elastic once more), and then, when you have four inches of your pony left to wrap, stick your thumb and forefinger through the center of the knot and grab the ends of your hair. Next, pull the ends of the pony through the center, letting it loosely hang out of the knot.
5. Secure the knot with several bobby pins. Aim each pin into the base of your style, crisscrossing them so they create an "X" for a stronger hold. Then, pull a few pieces all over out of the knot for a casual, undone effect. "By pulling out pieces, it makes the style look undone and not too ladylike," Pita explains.
6. Create a slight part from the middle of your head to the top of the knot. Use your fingertips to gently to pull out extra pieces around your face for a more ethereal look.
Finally, finish with a hairspray, like TRESemmé Platinum Strength Fortified Hold Hairspray, all over to set the style and voilà!
