Ubon Ratchathani Province will be holding this year’s Candle Festival during 15-31 July 2015 with the concept of promotin g the province as a learning place of Thai lifestyle and social values.
Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Office in Ubon Ratchathani Wichukorn Kularbsri has revealed that the general public and the provincial TAT office have joined hands to hold the 2015 Ubon Ratchathani Candle Festival from 15-31 July 2015 to conserve local traditions and boost tourism.
Tourists are invited to witness the creation of the exquisite wax candle sculptures in every stage from the beginning to the finishing stage. The wax candles will be used in parades to 11 temples in the Ubon Ratchathani City Municipality area under the ‘Visit Candlemaker Communities’ campaign.
Visitors to the candlemaker communities will each receive a 10-by-10 centimetre sticker bearing the picture of the most revered Buddha image of Ubon Ratchathani province that have been consecrated for good fortune, to be kept as a souvenir.
The Ubon Ratchathani Candle Festival is an annual age-old tradition well known around the world. It is considered a center for learning the way of life, culture and traditions where faithful Buddhists should pay a visit for once in their lives.
