Hitz is based in the heart of London’s inner city estates targeting young people aged 11-19 at risk of
exclusion and anti-social behaviour. Introducing them, often for the first time, to tag, touch and contact
rugby. Hitz provided participants with the opportunity to access personal and social development
programmes, educational support, vocational training programmes and workforce development and
volunteering opportunities.
Bring based on inner city estates meant that issues arose such as securing grass or astro-turf pitches,
funding for lighting, and accessibility to public transport. The lesson learnt was that free and easy
access to sessions is important, and that these should be provided in a safe environment.
