The GC–MS analysis of biodiesel obtained from S. bijugatus
showed three major peaks in the chromatogram. Each peak corresponded
to the fatty acid methyl ester of S. bijugatus and verified by
the NIST-library (Table 2). The fatty acids such as palmatic acid
(23.6%), oleic acid (27.2%) and stearic acid (11.3%) were the major
constituents in the biodiesel. Similar, results were reported by
[32,39]. They observed that C16 or C18 fatty acids were dominant
in Scenedesmus biodiesel.
