We aimed to develop a school-based, drug-use prevention
program incorporating the TPB and life skills
in order to evaluate its effectiveness among a small
sample of junior high school students in Taiwan. We
conceptualized drug-use intention as a proxy variable
for drug use behavior, since behavioral intention is theorized
to directly predict behavioral initiation based
on TPB. Our prevention education program focused
on strengthening students’ behavioral intentions to
remain drug-free through advancing their attitudes,
subjective norm, life skills, and perceived control of
drug use. Program effectiveness was determined by
examining changes in these outcomes.
