The business problem to be solved, or the business
opportunity to be explored, by the project is clear, and
Ithe goals for the project are defined.
,Responsibilities of strategic ITDS management.
‘Strategic ITAS management must ensure that the IT
project is competitive compared to other prospective
projects in the company. Consequently, strategic ITAS
management should be closely integrated with the
general management of the utility to be able to take
proper decisions on which IT related programs, and IT
projects, to start.
The goals and/or success criteria for the projects must
be defined in significant, measurable, and business
oriented (not technical) terms. Project success should
be measured independently, that is, it is the
responsibility of the strategic ITAS management level,
and not the IT project manager. If the goals are not
clearly defined, and followed up independently, the
degree of success can easily be invented after the
project is finished.
