Desalination with RO membranes is being increasingly used for
the treatment of contaminated groundwater sources due to industrial
activities [1–6]. Mining sites have an ongoing groundwater
pollution problem resulting from seepage of a mine’s tailing facility,
waste dumps and natural conditions. Due to mining activities,
many groundwaters have been contaminated with high concentrations
of metals in addition to high levels of total dissolved solids
(TDS). In order to remediate the contaminated ground water, the
potential of treating the collected groundwater and injecting it
back into the aquifer to help accelerate the cleanup of the polluted
shallow plume is being investigated
