Khao Yai is located 400 meters above sea level, so the park is cool all year round, with temperatures dropping to ..........26.......... 4-5 degrees Celsius in some parts of the year. ..........27.......... a national park in September 1962, Khao Yai proved popular among nature lovers and hikers who spent large amounts of time exploring and mapping the park’s best features and routes. This .........28.......... led to bungalows being built in the park, and even a golf course. ..........29.........., in 1991 the Government closed the park to preserve the habitat and protect the wildlife. The golf course was shut down, and tourists were only allowed to spend days, not nights, in the park.
Nevertheless, Khao Yai remains as popular today ..........30.........., with the major rivers of Lam Takhong and Nakhon Nayok running through it, and with over 20 waterfalls, many marshes, and plenty of hiking trails.
