Waldemar Pickardt ( former Unicef Staff-member on retirement). He works field of work volunteer work supporting about 20 Syrian families arrived in Germany after fleeing their country from civil war. The Mühlhausen is location, a small community (city) in central Germany during June to July 2015 and this here is setting for work. Daily Routines he works as volunteer for a couple of hours a day to support about 20 families or 80 people arrived in Germany fleeing the civil war in Syria. His daily routines include the following:
- conducting interviews with the immigrants to assess their present situation
- offering information and support to go through the process of filling registration forms, registering for health services or finding schools and kindergartens for the children.
- liaising with and making referrals to administrative offices and other social services and agencies.
- facilitate a dialogue between the migrants and other community members in order to create common understanding and mutual respect.
- motivate the migrants to integrate as soon as possible within their new community by learning the German language, talking to their neighbors and by looking for employment possibilities.
Impact his works, even though it is only for some hours a day is helping about 80 people to go through a very difficult time . I provide needed information and motivation for self-help. He works may contribute directly to better and faster integrate 80 migrants within the exiting community by reducing prejudice and by creating better understanding and mutual respect.
