The plants in the constructed wetland system have developed
very well, and overall the system from the distance has a very
nice appearance due to the large number of blooming Canna and
other lush green plants (Fig. 7). Still, it is only to be expected that
wastewater management facilities during the first years of operation
experience a number of operation and maintenance issues.
Some of these originate from the construction works, some from
the always-required adjustments and the run-in of the operation of
the plant, especially a biological and innovative treatment facility
as the one established on Koh Phi Phi.
