The film legend, best-known for his performances in Die Hard and the Harry Potter films, passed away on Thursday of pancreatic cancer aged 69, surrounded by his friends and family.
His companion Richard Wilson appeared on Channel 4 news to reflect on the life and career of his fellow actor when he revealed that he was aware of Rickman's illness prior to his death.
Snow then asked: “So it wasn't a case of 'I don't believe it' then?" in reference to Wilson's famous catchphrase, from his iconic TV series One Foot in the Grave.
Wilson grinned at the comment but viewers were appalled by the remark which appeared to shed light on the star’s passing.
