Hypoglycemic and hypolipidaemic response was apparently slow to appear, which could have been due to the delayed absorption of medicament in the present animals who were on the normal animal house diet as the changes in the blood levels of glucose, triglyceride and cholesterol were more prominent in the 4 h samples rather than in the 2 h samples. An almost similar pattern of hypoglycemic and hypolipidaemic response was seen when the doses were increased to 300 and 350 mg/kg body weight (Table 1).
