The purified lipase showed optimal catalytic activity on p-NPP under extreme alkaline conditions (pH 10.0–11.0) and retained greater than 50% of its activity at 45 °C at pH levels ranging from 7.0 to 8.5 after 30 min of incubation. The results suggested that the E1PA lipase is likely an alkaline enzyme that is relatively stable, as it was able to tolerate (retaining greater than 50% of its lipase activity) a wide pH range, from 4.0 to 11.0 (Fig. 5A).
