The difficulty of the Starbucks example above is also true of the restaurant ANOVA results for the restaurant survey. That is, we can conclude that there are differences between the three groups based on distance driven. But we do not know if the differences are between the drive less than 1 mile group and the 1–5 miles group, or the 1–5 miles group and the more than 5 miles group, and so on. To answer this question, we must apply follow-up “post-hoc” tests. These tests will identify the pairs of groups that have significantly different mean responses.
