In each village we began by
talking with the village head or nai baan. We then
undertook a transect walk through the village and surrounding
land. A group discussion followed with an
assortment of key informants/village leaders. At the
same time a map of the village was drawn and a village
history outlined. Towards the end of the group discussions
we identified a sub-set of households to interview
more closely over the following days. In some instances
we also complemented these group discussions with
additional focus group sessions. In all, across the nine
villages, we selected 60 case study households for detailed
interview.
