Findings suggest that preservice teachers who are highly committed to the teaching profession exhibit high levels of emotional intelligence, especially in regards to selfappraisal and utilizing emotion in cognitive processing. These skills keep an individual ‘‘on track’’ through difficult times. Emotional intelligence has exhibited connections with resiliency, adaptive coping strategies, and wellbeing in the workplace, which is why it has been a growing area of study in organizational and business psychology (e.g., Ashkanasy & Dasborough, 2003).
