the bangkok university student activity center by supermachine studio comprises diverse facility spaces, mainly designed for out of classroom classroom use. from photo studios, music rehearsal rooms, a thai dance club, faculty and meeting rooms, to a cheerleader training hall, the existing building is transformed into a 32 compact room dormitory inserted with 12 compact courtyards. originally damaged from a flood in 2011, the renovation merges two gabled ceilings into a new single roof with structural elements to increase the functionality of the space, increasing the edifice footprint to accommodate a greater amount of users. at the rear end of the building is a completely new structure that house the ‘bu pom pom’ club; the 16 meter-high gymnasium acts as the training ground for the bangkok university cheerleading team.
