SEOUL – Pfizer Pharmaceuticals Korea Ltd., the local unit of U.S. pharmaceutical giant Pfizer Inc., on Friday released its pain reliever Advil in South Korea.
Advil Liqui-Gels — a liquid form of ibuprofen inside soft gel capsules — provide fast and effective pain relief against headaches, body pain, muscle pain, toothaches, and even menstrual cramps, according to the company.
Advil Liqui-Gels deliver pain relief within 15 minutes, said Francis Nowaczyk, a senior director of pain management design at Pfizer’s global research and development unit, citing a U.S. study. He said the Liqui-Gel’s absorption is 1.6 times fast compared to other soft capsules.
Nowaczyk also emphasized the safety of Advil because it does not contain caffeine, as well as fewer side effects, such as heartburn.
Advil — sold in over 50 countries — became the number one brand in the global pain reliever market in 2010 and has remained the best-selling over-the-counter medicine for the last three consecutive years, according to the company.
