The present study reveals that density, basal area, and LAI are
positively and strongly correlated to NDVI in comparison to other
vegetation indices. This is due to fact that the amount of NIR
reflection, linearly increases with the increase in vegetation density,
height, and number of canopy layers until it attains saturation
level at about 8 layers beyond which there is no further increase in
reflection. Several earlier researchers showed a close relationship
between vegetation amount (structure) and NIR and NDVI in
different forest environments
