Degradable implants are indeed fascinating since they solve
many of the problems associated with permanent implants such
as restenosis, thrombosis and, inability to adapt with the growth
and changes in human body, etc., and, eliminate the need for a second
surgery to remove them [1–5]. Development of new Mg alloys
and modification of the surface of currently used Mg alloys for biodegradable
implant applications have assumed significance in
recent years [6–17]
