Many educational institution make their own films, but a wide variety of films on most subjects can be hired or borrowed form a number of sources. In this respect the magazine Film User is useful; it reviews new films, publishes a survey of distributors and provides several hundred names and addresses from which films can be borrowed or hired. These comprise commercial film libraries which charge so much per reel per night ; film libraries provide from public funds such as those run by the local educational authorities which serve schoolsand other educational institutions, and sponsored film libraries. Some examples of film libraies are given in the appendix.
