Reduced violence and student behavioral problems
Multiple studies have shown that the implementation of uniforms reduces violence and behavioral problems in schools. The school district in Long Beach, Calif., was the first in the country to institute a mandatory uniform policy. In the five years following the policy’s institution, overall crime dropped by 86%. Incidents of assault and battery dropped from 319 cases to 82, and vandalism cases decreased from 1,409 to 106 incidents.
