KUALA LUMPUR: Police will resume knocking on doors and set up roadblocks on Thursday to nab errant motorists under Ops Warta.
Bukit Aman traffic chief Senior AsstComm Datuk MohdFuad Abdul Latiff said they were to resume operations to settle arrest warrants after the end of Ops Selamat.
"In May this year, a total of 240,000 arrest warrants were settled of the 1.59 million outstanding warrants.
"Traffic police nationwide will begin tracing and arresting those who have yet to settle the 1.35 million arrest warrants," he said in a statement on Monday.
He advised the public to check on their summonses at the nearest traffic police counters and immediately settle them.
SAC MohdFuad said those with many summonses and arrest warrants should not keep quiet but should come forward to seek help from him or other state traffic chiefs.
"We will be conducting roadblocks and conducting door to door visits to trace and catch these hardcore traffic offenders.
"Take advantage of the next two days to settle your summonses," he said.
Vehicle users could check if they had outstanding summonses at www.myeg.com.my and www.rilek.com.my, or at any traffic police counters, post office and Maybank ATMs and at selected shopping malls as well as Road Transport Department branches.
SAC MohdFuad had been quoted saying previously that police would not entertain excuses from the usual plea of ignorance to claims of having no money to pay their summonses.
