Dietary fibre is made up of carbohydrate polymers derived from plants; it consists of 10 or more monomeric units that are resistant to hydrolysis by the endogenous enzymes in the small intestine of humans with complete fermentation in the colon where can promote beneficial microfauna growth (where Fuentes-Zaragoza, Riquelme-Navarrete, Sanchez-Zapata, & Perez-Alvarez, 2010). The primary components of dietary fibre are the non-starch polysaccharides (NSP). NSP include insoluble dietary fibre (cellulose, hemicelluloses and lignin) and soluble dietary fibre (gums and mucilages) (AACC, 2001)
