The ratio of returned heat to LED power with the TLHS model was 49.5% during the winter test, which indicates that lighting heat can be reused as an internal heat source during the heating period.
•
Based on the results of the heat balance analysis, the sensible thermal loads in the mock-up chamber were reduced by 7.5% for cooling and 1.4% for heating by application of the seasonal operating strategy of the TLHS model.
•
The cooling energy saving rates for simulated reference office buildings were 13.0% for Houston, 15.9% for Atlanta, and 18.8% for Boulder, compared to the base case, when the TLHS model was applied. The savings in heating energy use were only 1.2%–3.0%, compared to the base case. The rates of annual site energy reduction were higher for the hotter and more humid climatic conditions.
