Alternative records from the Agri-food & Veterinary Authority(AVA) of Singapore showed a higher figure of 115,585 tonnes of cooking oil (Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority Singapore, 2010). A local biodiesel producer estimated that 18.5% of the cooking oil consumed eventually ends up as waste oil and this figure is consis-tent with 10–30% range as Japan’s waste oil generation rates of 29%(households), 30% (restaurants) and 10% (food industry) (Hirai andYu, 2008).
