Furthermore, these two mandalas represented two different metaphysical (magical) realities of Esoteric Buddhism.
The Kongokai mandala was the unchanging divine aspect of the Buddhist world, in which the five Wisdom Buddhas ruled eternally. One of these realms, for example, was Amitabha’s Pure Land.
The Taizokai was the active, physical manifestation of the Buddhas and Buddha-nature in the everyday world. Vairocana is seen in the center of this mandala.
